Sensing Edges for Industrial Door Safety

Pressure sensitive sensing edges or edge sensors are used as safety devices on overhead doors. Upon sensing an obstruction during the closing cycle, the edge signals to the controls to stop or reverse the door. A sensing edge ideally offers cushioning to absorb the door over travel that occurs between the stop signal and the actual stand still of the door motion. The sensing edge either comes with an edge controller to interface with the door controls, or it connects directly to the operator.
